Branch Switcher for ChatGPT: ‹1/2› Edit Arrows
The ‹ 1/2 › arrows under edited messages are back. Pick any version and keep chatting from it — no new chat.
To Anna and Tom: may every trail you take together end with a view worth the climb.
Press Edit in ChatGPT, change your message and send it. ‹ 1/2 › appears under it.
The first version comes back with its answers, right in this chat. No reload.
Your next message continues the version on screen. The other one is still there behind ›.

Arrows next to Copy on answers you regenerated. Where ChatGPT shows its own, there is no second pair.
Return to a version and you land on the branch you left there, not just the newest one.
Works in temporary chats, where ChatGPT has no way to see versions at all, in projects and in long chats.
Everything is on for your first 3 days, with no key and no card. One key works in two browsers.

It reads that chat’s versions from ChatGPT, from your signed-in tab, and switches which one is on screen.
It runs on chatgpt.com and on one page of ours after a purchase. Nowhere else.
It asks etcetera.tools which day your free days began, checks a Pro key about once a day and counts installs with a random ID. Nothing about your chats, no third-party analytics.
In early 2026 ChatGPT replaced the ‹ 1/2 › arrows on edited messages with “See versions”: a window you can only read, and “Branch in new chat” to carry on. This extension puts the arrows back. What people lost with them — ChatGPT arrows missing.
That copies the conversation into a new chat. Here you switch versions where you are, and your next message continues the one on screen. One chat, every branch inside it.
No. Versions are read from chatgpt.com with your own signed-in session and stay in your browser. Our server never sees a word of them.
No. It only changes which version is on screen, as the old arrows did. Every version stays in the chat.
Yes. ChatGPT shows no versions there at all, so the arrows are the only way back to an earlier one.
No. Where ChatGPT shows its own arrows under an answer, the extension adds none.
Everything is Pro, and your first 3 days have all of it with no key and no card. After that the arrows still show how many versions a message has; switching, the list of versions and temporary chats need Pro.
In the browser you paid from, Pro switches on by itself. In another browser, click the extension’s icon, press “Enter key” and paste the key from your receipt email.
Two at once. To move it, press “Remove key” in the extension’s popup in the browser you no longer use, or remove that browser in your account — the link is in the receipt.
Yes, within 14 days of a charge, for any reason. One email is enough — see the refund policy.
